Product Introduction

What is Carophyll Red?

Carophyll Red powder is a feed colorant whose main ingredients are canthaxanthin, corn starch, yellow dextrin, sucrose, ethoxyquin, palmityl ascorbyl, etc. It is widely used in the feed industry, mainly added to poultry feed for coloring egg yolks, edible poultry, salmon and crustaceans. It can increase the color and brightness of animal skin, feet, ketone bodies and eggs.

It is a granular powder with good fluidity, composed of spherical or bead-shaped small particles, evenly distributed in starch-coated carbohydrates. It provides double protection for active substances and enhances its ability to resist external adverse factors and withstand harsh processing conditions.

Carophyll Red is a synthetic high-efficiency feed coloring additive with a red pigment. The active ingredient is canthaxanthin, with a content of 10%. Canthaxanthin, whose chemical name is 4,4-diketo-β-carotene (purity 96.0%), is a keto carotenoid. The molecular formula is C40H52O2 and the molecular weight is approximately 564.9. Chemically synthesized canthaxanthin is brown to purple-red, orange-red in oil solution, and dark red in aqueous dispersion. The melting point of the crystalline product is about 210°C.

What are the benefits of Carophyll Red?

1. Carophyll Red powder is a carotenoid, homologous to VA, and has biological antioxidant effects. After adding it, it can significantly extend the shelf life of eggs. It is an imported egg yolk and meat colorant. It has the same structure as natural pigments in nature, 10% Cantharidin has uniform particle size and contains 100,000 particles per gram. It has excellent dispersibility. Each particle is an active individual, which helps pigments to be better deposited, absorbed and colored. The amount added to the feed is small and the coloring effect is good. , very cost-effective, so it is more suitable for egg yolk and broiler chicken and aquaculture coloring.

2. Carophyll Red has the same structure as the natural pigment in nature. Poultry’s unique bioavailability of canthaxanthin combined with its unique physical properties makes the coloring effect very ideal, and the cost is low. The amount added to the feed is small, and it is used in many laying hen feeds. It is widely used in broiler and broiler feeds and aquatic feed. It can increase the economic added value of livestock, poultry and aquatic products and bring considerable benefits to breeding. Deeply loved by breeding friends.

3. According to surveys by market analysts from various countries around the world, consumers prefer the orange-red egg yolks in the natural free-range state; today’s laying hens are almost all caged chickens that eat feed, and they have lost the connection with the insects and green eggs in nature. Due to the contact between grass and flowers, there is no opportunity to eat natural food, and there is no sufficient source of pigments in the feed. As a result, the color of the egg yolk becomes light and white, which cannot cater to consumers' eating habits. Using Carophyll Red egg yolks can also greatly improve egg quality and market competitiveness.

Detection method

Carophyll Red powder, as a fat-soluble compound, will enter fat-soluble tissues in the body: such as liver, kidney, spleen, fat and egg yolk, etc. Therefore, it is difficult to extract this substance. Currently, the detection methods for Carophyll Red include spectrophotometry, thin-layer chromatography, and high-performance liquid chromatography. Some scholars used thin layer chromatography to detect the residual amount of canthaxanthin in salmon, and established a solid-phase extraction-high-performance liquid chromatography HPLC for simultaneous determination of canthaxanthin and astaxanthin in feed. At the same time, a method for the independent determination of canthaxanthin in feed using high-performance liquid chromatography was also established. However, these two methods are only suitable for detecting the content of canthaxanthin in feed, and further improvements are needed for the detection of canthaxanthin in tissues.

Animal Food Safety

Carophyll Red is used as a feed colorant in the poultry breeding industry, with a coverage rate of 60%. It is mainly used to improve the color of shins, carcasses, and egg yolks of poultry and poultry products. Research shows that without the addition of red pigment, the lutein concentration of 10 to 12 mg/kg in the feed can saturate the coloring of the shin of broiler chickens, with a Roche colorimetric fan of 3° to 4°. To improve the shin color by 1°, approximately 1 mg/kg of canthaxanthin needs to be added. When Carophyll Red is 25 mg/kg and Carophyll Yellow is 30 mg/kg, the coloration of broiler shanks can reach RYCF (Roche Colorimetric Fan) 8.1. When the dosage is 50 mg/kg, the calcined yellow should be 60 mg/kg or 120 mg/kg, and the shin color can reach 9 or 10.4.

In practical applications, farmers can determine the appropriate level of carcass coloring based on the color requirements of the shin. The level of Carophyll Red increases with the increase in consumer demand for color. Generally, 30 mg/kg is added to the feed to make the color of the egg yolk more natural. It can significantly increase the RYCF of egg yolk and can be used to produce "red eggs". Studies have shown that dietary supplementation has no significant impact on the growth performance of laying hens such as body weight, average daily weight gain, average daily feed intake, and feed-to-weight ratio. It has no significant impact on egg production performance such as starting egg weight, egg production rate, and average egg weight. There is no significant effect, but it can advance the age of laying hens. The four serum proteins α-globulin, β-globulin, γ-globulin and serum albumin in the serum of Hy-Line laying hens fed Carophyll Red feed increased with the increase of feeding days, and different dosages produced different changes. The synthesis of chicken serum protein is affected.

Dosage

Content: Carophyll Red Powder contains 15% CanthaxanthinPowder 15%

Adding 10 to 50 grams per ton of corn-based feed can deepen the coloring of broiler chicken shanks, thus promoting their sales. Adding a small amount of 10 to 30 grams per ton of corn-based laying hen feed is the only economical colorant on the market for duck egg coloring, and adding 60-80 grams per ton of duck feed.
