Product Introduction

Do You Know What L-Carnitine Powder Bulk Is?

L-carnitine powder bulk (chemical name: β-hydroxyγ-trimethylammoniumbutyrate) is an amino acid that helps convert fat into energy. It was discovered in 1905 by the Russians Gulewitsch and Krimberg. Its molecular formula is C7H15NO3.

L-carnitine Powder Bulk

L-carnitine powder bulk is highly hygroscopic, has good water solubility and absorption, and can withstand temperatures exceeding 200°C. It has no toxic side effects on the human body. Red meat is the primary source of L-Carnitine, and the human body can also synthesize it to meet physiological needs. It is not a true vitamin, but rather a vitamin-like substance. It has many physiological functions, including fat oxidation and decomposition, weight loss, and fatigue relief. As a food additive, it is widely used in infant and toddler foods, diet foods, athlete foods, nutritional supplements for the elderly, nutritional supplements for vegetarians, and animal feed additives.

L-Carnitine in the diet is primarily derived from animals, with very low levels found in plants. The main animal sources include lean meat, liver, heart, yeast, lamb, chicken, rabbit meat, milk and whey; the main plant sources include avocado, kiwi, grapes, papaya, lemon, aloe vera, lotus leaves, Puer tea casein and malt.

Acquisition Methods Of L-Carnitine Powder Bulk

Extraction method

L-carnitine is naturally present in various meats and milk, so it can be directly extracted from beef and milk containing L-carnitine.

References report that 0.6g of crystalline carnitine can be extracted from 450g of beef extract, and 100g of lactose powder containing 2% L-carnitine can be extracted from 56kg of milk. However, the extraction method is expensive and not very reasonable in reality.

Microbial fermentation method

Research shows that L-carnitine powder bulk is also present in many microorganisms. L-carnitine can be accumulated by liquid deep culture or solid fermentation of microorganisms such as yeast, Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Rhizopus. However, due to the complexity of strain screening, the current fermentation level is still relatively low.

It is reported that using 2% DL-carnitine as raw material, fermentation at 25℃ for 44h can accumulate 0.4% L-carnitine.

Synthesis method

In 1953, there were patent reports on the synthesis of DL-carnitine abroad, and industrial production had already begun in the 1960s. In China, it was also produced and used as a stomach medicine in 1982. Starting directly from DL-carnitine, chemical splitting was performed using camphoric acid, N-acetyl-D-glutamic acid or ethylbenzoyl-L-(+) tartaric acid as splitting agents to obtain L-carnitine. However, D-carnitine racemization is difficult and cannot be recovered, and industrial production still needs a breakthrough. (4) Enzymatic conversion. This is the most studied and the most promising method. Microbial enzymes can be used for selective hydrolysis and splitting. For example, Zhongshan Qing et al. used amidases from microorganisms such as Pseudomonas to selectively hydrolyze DL-carnitine amide or carnitine nitrile to produce L-carnitine powder bulk with an optical purity of more than 99%. In addition, L-carnitine can also be prepared by enzymatic conversion of β-dehydrocarnitine, enzymatic hydrolysis of trans-croton betaine, and enzymatic hydroxylation of γ-butyl betaine.

What Are The Functions Of L-Carnitine Powder Bulk?

L-Carnitine Powder Bulk, a naturally occurring amino acid derivative, plays a vital role in numerous physiological processes. Its primary functions include:

·Fat Metabolism Regulator

As a key mediator of fatty acid transport, L-carnitine promotes beta-oxidation of long-chain fatty acids across the mitochondrial membrane, accelerating fat burning and reducing body fat accumulation. Multiple studies have shown that L-carnitine supplementation can significantly reduce weight and body fat percentage, especially when combined with aerobic exercise.

·Improving Athletic Performance

L-carnitine promotes fatty acid oxidation for energy, conserving glycogen stores; it can improve exercise endurance and delay fatigue. It also reduces lactic acid accumulation after exercise, accelerating recovery, making it suitable for athletes and manual laborers.

·Cardiovascular Protection

L-Carnitine Powder Bulk helps lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels, reduces fat deposits in blood vessels, and has a preventive effect on heart diseases such as myocardial ischemia and arrhythmias. It also enhances myocardial vitality and helps maintain normal heart function.

·Improving Metabolic Function

L-carnitine can improve insulin resistance, regulate blood sugar and lipid levels, and assist in managing diabetes. It also has a positive effect on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, reducing hepatic steatosis and improving liver function.

·Relieves Fatigue

Appropriate supplementation of L-carnitine also has a significant effect on chronic fatigue syndrome.  L-Carnitine Powder Bulk is involved in many metabolic processes and plays a vital role in boosting the body's immunity, protecting cell membrane stability, improving exercise endurance, and combating fatigue.

Applications of L-Carnitine Powder Bulk

L-carnitine plays a crucial role in the metabolic process of infants using fat as an energy source. Foods fortified with L-carnitine are effective in treating fat metabolism disorders caused by carnitine deficiency, preventing obesity and fatty liver disease, which are caused by the accumulation of lipids in muscle fibers and the liver. Carnitine supplementation can also improve fatigue, as L-carnitine promotes fat oxidation, providing sufficient energy for the body and improving endurance and explosive power.

Food additives: Used in infant formula, diet foods, and athletes' foods.

Nutritional supplements: Suitable for vegetarians, the elderly, and other groups.

Drugs: Used to treat carnitine deficiency and related metabolic diseases.

Feed additives: Promotes animal fat metabolism and improves feed utilization. It promotes mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation and performs other biochemical functions, including acetyl buffering, maintaining sufficient coenzyme A concentrations in mitochondria during anaerobic energy production, stimulating the tricarboxylic acid cycle, and stimulating ATP export from mitochondria during sustained muscle exercise. L-Carnitine Powder Bulk is used for healthy animal growth.

L-Carnitine Powder Bulk : Helps With Recovery After Exercise

Delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is common after unfamiliar training or heavy eccentric training. It is characterized by muscle pain and limited joint mobility within 24-48 hours of exercise, accompanied by changes in biochemical markers such as significant increases in creatine kinase, myoglobin, and lactate dehydrogenase.

L-Carnitine Powder Bulk has a positive and significant effect on reducing muscle soreness. Significant reductions in muscle soreness were observed compared to the control group at 0, 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours after exercise. This significance was measured using a subjective rating scale, with participants selecting their pain on a scale ranging from 0 (no pain at all) to 10 (extreme pain). Furthermore, L-Carnitine supplementation significantly reduced serum creatine kinase, myoglobin, and lactate dehydrogenase levels (measured objectively through blood tests).

However, further analysis revealed that the effect of reducing muscle soreness was more pronounced in subjects without training experience. Experienced trainees did not experience a significant reduction in muscle soreness with L-carnitine. Furthermore, the reduction in creatine kinase levels was more pronounced in subjects who underwent resistance training (compared to aerobic training).

Three Possible Mechanisms

There are three possible mechanisms to explain L-carnitine's improvement in muscle soreness and related markers.

1. Inhibition of Lipid Peroxidation

Lipid peroxidation releases free radicals and damages cell membrane integrity, particularly during strenuous exercise. Studies have shown that L-carnitine can directly scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS), reducing lipid peroxidation.

The cell membrane is composed of a phospholipid bilayer structure, and the phospholipid heads of the hydrophobic layer are easily damaged by oxidation

2. Improvement of Cell Membrane Integrity

Reducing peroxidative damage better maintains cell membrane integrity (which can be understood as a more intact, undamaged cell). While damaged cells can leak internal components (such as creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase), intact cells do not leak their contents.

3. Improve Blood Flow and Cellular Metabolism

Research has shown that L-carnitine improves the function of vascular endothelial cells. Healthy endothelial cells provide blood vessels with elasticity, promoting smooth blood flow. Improved blood circulation during training helps remove metabolic byproducts, while increased blood circulation at rest facilitates the delivery of nutrients to target muscles, promoting tissue recovery and reducing muscle soreness.

While this review of studies has drawn positive conclusions, the total number of participants in the seven studies was only 79 (70 men vs. 9 women), and the majority of them were inexperienced (45 vs. 34 experienced participants). Therefore, further research and larger sample sizes are needed to confirm the effectiveness of L-Carnitine Powder Bulk in promoting recovery.

Can L-Carnitine Powder Bulk Really Help You Lose Weight?

L-carnitine, a natural amino acid derivative synthesized by the human body, is stored in large quantities in muscle tissue. Since complete fat metabolism requires the mitochondria within cells, carnitine participates in the synthesis of carnitine acyl-CoA, facilitating the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria for full oxidation, converting them into CO2 and water.

This shows that L-carnitine acts as a "transporter" in fat metabolism. So, can supplementing with L-carnitine actually help us lose weight?

In fact, no, because the amount of fat we burn is not directly dependent on the amount of L-carnitine we take. L-Carnitine Powder Bulk begins to work when our body senses "hunger" or when, due to increased exercise and insufficient caloric intake, fat cells must be mobilized to provide energy.

In other words, the premise is that only when the fat cells are "moving" can L-carnitine be used as a "transporter". If you eat healthily and exercise a certain amount, the additional use of L-carnitine will indeed increase the fat burning efficiency. However, if you do not exercise at all, taking L-carnitine alone will not have a certain effect on weight loss.

How Should L-carnitine Powder Bulk Be Taken?

L-carnitine in the diet is primarily found in animal foods, with meat and dairy products being the richest sources. Under normal dietary intake, daily L-carnitine intake generally does not exceed 200mg. If taking oral L-carnitine supplements, limit your intake to 2g per day; exceeding this limit can cause gastrointestinal discomfort such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.

It is best to take it with carbohydrates to significantly increase absorption. Research indicates that the optimal amount of carbohydrates is approximately 80-94g, and the most practical approach is to consume it with or after meals.

Theoretically, while long-term, high-dose L-Carnitine Powder Bulk intake is not harmful to health, it may lead to mild physiological dependence and withdrawal symptoms.

The following individuals should avoid using L-carnitine:

Epileptics: It may lower the seizure threshold.

Hypothyroidism: It may interfere with the function of thyroid hormones.

Pregnant/lactating women

Renal insufficiency: It may increase metabolic burden.

L-Carnitine Powder Bulk does have some positive effects on fat loss, but it's not suitable for everyone. It should be used under the guidance of a physician or nutritionist to ensure safety and effectiveness. Its value is most evident in obese individuals or those who regularly exercise. For most healthy individuals, a balanced diet is sufficient for adequate L-carnitine production. Therefore, it's crucial to carefully assess your individual situation before using L-carnitine. Avoid using it blindly.
