It resists carbonylation, protects collagen from damage by activated carbon groups, promotes the growth of type III collagen, and has antioxidant and anti-glycation properties.
GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder effectively complexes and transports copper, exerting its effects. For example, the complexed copper peptide can effectively stimulate collagen biosynthesis in fibroblasts, thereby promoting rapid wound healing. It can also effectively block the neurotransmission of acetylcholine, thereby relaxing muscles and improving dynamic wrinkles.
GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder is currently widely used as a cosmetic additive.
The Role of GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder in Cosmetics
As a highly effective and versatile cosmetic active ingredient, GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder significantly improves skin laxity, effectively enhancing skin elasticity and firmness, while also increasing skin density by promoting keratinocyte proliferation. GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder not only significantly reduces the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles, but also improves skin tone evenness and reduces hyperpigmentation caused by photoaging. Its excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties make it a key ingredient in anti-aging formulations, and it also offers special protection against ethanol damage.
In addition to its outstanding performance in the anti-wrinkle field, GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder also exhibits multiple biological activities, such as promoting wound healing and stimulating hair growth, making it a multifunctional ingredient in modern skincare.
GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder - Achieves Anti-Aging and Collagen Production
1. Promotes Hair Growth
An experiment on the effect of GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder on hair growth in mice showed that mice with alopecia were randomly divided into two groups. Each group was treated with a 0.6 mol/L GHK-Cu solution, a 0.6 mol/L GHK-Cu liposome solution, or purified water (control group) to apply to the hair loss area. The duration of new hair growth in the mice was recorded, and pathological and histomorphological changes in the hair loss area were observed.
A: Control group, 14 days; B: GHK-Cu liposome group, 14 days; C: GHK-Cu group, 14 days;
D: Control group, 21 days; E: GHK-Cu liposome group, 21 days; F: GHK-Cu group, 21 days.
Compared with the control group, the GHK-Cu liposome and GHK-Cu groups showed a shorter hair growth period. On day 14 of application, the area of hair growth and hair length on the back were significantly better than those in the control group. On day 22 of application, the hair loss areas of four mice in the GHK-Cu group, three mice in the GHK-Cu liposome group, and two mice in the control group had complete hair coverage.
The results are shown in the figure below. Compared with the control group, the number of hair follicles in both the GHK-Cu and GHK-Cu liposome groups increased, and the difference was statistically significant.
2.Treatment of Androgenic Alopecia
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA), also known as seborrheic alopecia or male pattern baldness, is the most common type of non-scarring hair loss characterized by a shortened anagen phase and a prolonged telogen phase during the hair growth cycle, resulting in a progressive reduction in the size of hair follicles and a gradual transformation of terminal hair into vellus hair.
In a trial of GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder for improving hair loss in AGA:
Among 67 patients who responded to treatment, 55 experienced improvement in hair loss (6 patients had no noticeable hair loss before treatment, and 6 patients reported no improvement in hair loss but significant hair growth). The fastest improvement occurred in 1 month, the slowest in 6 months, and the average improvement time was 2.88 months.
Among 67 patients who responded to treatment, 50 experienced significant hair growth (17 patients experienced a significant reduction in hair loss but no significant hair growth after only 3 months of treatment). The fastest hair growth time was 1 month, the slowest in 10 months, and the average improvement time was 4.02 months.
Mechanism of Action:
1. GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder promotes dermal papilla cell proliferation and inhibits dermal papilla apoptosis;
2. It promotes the production of vascular endothelial growth factor, thereby promoting angiogenesis, increasing blood flow, and improving AGA;
3. It reduces the production of transforming growth factor-β1 (induced by androgens and inhibiting hair growth);
4. GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder increases the stemness and proliferative potential of hair follicle stem cells;
5. It has anti-inflammatory effects.
3. Promotes Collagen and Elastin Production
Cultured HDFa (adult human dermal fibroblasts) cells were incubated with GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder at 0.01, 1, and 100 nM in cell culture medium. RT-PCR was used to measure the gene expression (mRNA) of MMP1 (a metalloproteinase), MMP2, TIMP1, and TIMP2 (tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases) in treated HDFa cells. Cellular production of collagen and elastin was measured using commercial assay kits, and gene expression correlations with collagen and elastin production were determined.
Effects of GHK-Cu on the gene expressions of MMP1, MMP2, TIMP1 and TIMP2 after 24 hours of HDFa culture
Except for TIMP2, expression of all proteins significantly increased at lower concentrations of GHK-Pu. For both MMP1 and MMP2, only the lowest concentration (0.01 nM) resulted in a significant increase in expression. TIMP1 expression was significantly increased at all concentrations, while TIMP2 expression was significantly decreased at higher concentrations (1 and 100 nM).
The results showed that treatment with GHK-Cu solution slightly increased collagen or α-elastin production by fibroblasts within 48 hours and significantly increased after 96 hours compared to untreated cells.
Conclusion: GHK-Cu Copper Peptide Powder significantly increased collagen and elastin production by HDFa cells, but in a concentration-dependent manner (0.01-10 nM).
4. Promotes Wound Healing
In experimental rabbit wounds, GHK alone or in combination with high-dose helium-neon laser therapy improved wound contraction and granulation tissue formation, increased antioxidant enzyme activity, and stimulated blood vessel growth. GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder improved the healing of ischemic open wounds in rats, resulting in faster wound healing and reduced concentrations of MMP2 and MMP9, as well as TNF-β (a major inflammatory cytokine), compared to control or untreated wounds.
5. Anti-Aging
Seventy-one women with mildly or severely aging facial skin experienced significant improvements in skin aging after using a cream containing GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder for 12 weeks. GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder improved skin laxity, clarity, and appearance, reduced the depth of fine lines and wrinkles, and increased skin density and thickness.
A study of 41 women with mild or severe facial aging who used the eye cream for 12 weeks found that GHK CU Copper Peptide Powder had a significant anti-wrinkle effect and increased skin density and thickness compared to a control group using vitamin K.
