What is Lysine Hydrochloride?

The side chain of L-lysine contains an n-butyl amino group, which is protonated at physiological pH.

Production Method

• The production methods include extraction, fermentation and synthesis. At present, the fermentation method is mainly used for production.
• Lysine fermentation can use yellow Brevibacterium or glutamicum as production bacteria. Generally, starch hydrolyzed sugar is used as carbon source, ammonium sulfate, urea or liquid ammonia is used as nitrogen source, calcium carbonate is used as neutralizer, and biotin, soybean meal hydrolyzate, magnesium sulfate, dipotassium hydrogen phosphate and potassium dihydrogen phosphate are added as culture medium;
• After sterilization, 2% of seeds after secondary expansion culture or 10% of seeds after tertiary expansion culture are inoculated, and fermented for about 60 hours under ventilation conditions; during the fermentation process, the Ph value is maintained at 6.5-7.5, the temperature is 32℃ in the early stage, and 34℃ in the middle and late stages; the acid production level is about 4%, and the sugar-acid conversion rate is about 30%.
• Lysine is usually extracted by ion exchange. Flocculants (such as polyacrylamide) and filter aids (such as diatomaceous earth) are added to the fermentation broth, and then the bacteria and other impurities are filtered out;
• The Ph value is adjusted to 2-3 with hydrochloric acid, and adsorbed on the column (cation exchange resin); after washing with water, it is eluted with ammonia water with a Ph value of 9.5-12;
• The eluate is vacuum concentrated at 50-60°C to remove ammonia, and the Ph value is adjusted to 5-6 with hydrochloric acid to precipitate the crude lysine hydrochloride;
• Finally, the crude product is dissolved in water, decolorized with activated carbon, filtered, cooled and crystallized to obtain the finished product.
