Menthyl Lactate

Preparation Method

(1) Select a mixture produced by the direct esterification reaction of menthol and lactic acid, add a low-polarity alkane, and stir to extract;

(2) Wash the organic layer with alkaline saturated salt water until it is neutral, let it stand to separate the layers, and evaporate the organic solvent under reduced pressure to obtain an extract concentrate;

(3) Dissolve the extract concentrate in a lower alcohol to prepare an alcohol solution of the extract, and then load it into a macroporous resin HP20 chromatography column, then use different concentrations of lower alcohols for gradient elution, detect the eluate by GC, combine and concentrate the segments, and recover the solvent to obtain a crude product of menthyl lactate;

(4) Dissolve the crude product of menthyl lactate in an aqueous solution of isopropanol, filter, cool the supernatant to crystallize, filter, and dry to obtain purified menthyl lactate.
