What is Oats Beta Glucan?
Oats Beta Glucan is a water-soluble dietary fiber that is mainly found in the endosperm and aleurone cell walls of oats. It is a high molecular weight polymer formed by monomeric β-D-pyranose glucose linked by β-(1→3) and β-(1→4) glycosidic bonds. Water solubility
In water-soluble β-glucan, the ratio of β-(1→3) glycosidic bonds to β-(1→4) glycosidic bonds is about 2.3:1.
Stability
High-purity oat glucan is white and tasteless, with a neutral pH value. The solution is viscous after dissolving in water. It is very stable to heat, weak acid and weak base, and is insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone and n-butanol.
