Preparation Method

(1) reacting maleuride with bromine in an inert solvent at 5-20°C to form a first reaction mixture;

(2) directly pouring the first reaction mixture obtained in step 1 into an alkaline solution to react to form a second reaction mixture containing orotic acid, wherein the temperature of the alkaline solution and the second reaction mixture is maintained at 55-85°C;

(3) adjusting the pH of the second reaction mixture obtained in step 2 to acidic with an acidic reagent to form a third reaction mixture containing orotic acid;

(4) isolating or purifying it from the third reaction mixture.
