What is Polylysine?

Polylysine Powder is a linear polyamino acid formed by connecting L-lysine through amino-tendon bonds, produced by microorganisms using biotechnology. This substance was originally found to have antibacterial activity and was therefore used as a preservative in the food industry. It is a natural food preservative with excellent antibacterial effects and can effectively inhibit the proliferation of various microorganisms. For example, it is used in baked goods and cooked meat products to prevent food spoilage. In addition, it has the characteristics of high water solubility, ability to maintain activity in high temperature environments, and good antibacterial properties over a wide pH range.

Mechanism of Action

1. Acting on the cell wall and cell membrane system: it can interfere with the cell wall and cell membrane structure of bacteria, resulting in interruption of energy, material and information transmission of cells, thus preventing bacteria from growing and reproducing normally.
2. Acting on genetic material or genetic particle structure: it can affect the genetic material or genetic particle structure of bacteria, change its genetic traits, and thus inhibit the growth and reproduction of bacteria.
3. Acting on enzymes or functional proteins: it can inhibit the synthesis of enzymes and functional proteins in bacteria, affect their metabolic process, and thus make bacteria inactive and unable to survive.
4. Acting on biofilm: it can interact with biofilm and affect the respiration of bacteria. Polylysine entering the bacteria will also inhibit the synthesis of enzymes and proteins, further affecting the bacterial metabolism.
