Preparation Method

It can be obtained by molecular distillation and chromatography refining of cod liver oil, but the method of obtaining pure products is chemical synthesis. The Iserl route (i.e., tetradecaldehyde route) is usually used, that is, p-ionone is first condensed with ethyl monochloroacetate in a sodium methoxide medium, hydrolyzed in sodium hydroxide and methanol, and decarboxylated to obtain tetradecaldehyde. In addition, sodium acetylene is condensed with methyl vinyl ketone below -40°C to produce 3-methylpentyne ene alcohol ; then reacted with ethyl magnesium bromide to produce dibromomagnesium compound; then condensed with tetradecaldehyde and hydrolyzed to obtain hydroxydehydrovitamin A; then catalytically hydrogenated to obtain hydroxyvitamin A, reacted with acetyl chloride in pyridine to obtain hydroxyvitamin acetate, and then brominated and debrominated under alkaline (soda ash) conditions to obtain vitamin acetate.
