Fries rearrangement method: Phenol is used as the starting material, and first undergoes an acylation reaction with acetyl chloride to generate phenylacetate, and then undergoes a Fries rearrangement to obtain 4-hydroxyacetophenone, which then reacts with bromoketone to generate α-bromo-4-hydroxyacetophenone, which then reacts with methylamine aqueous solution to generate 2-methylamino-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethanone, and finally is reduced with NaBH4 to obtain synephrine.
