Raw Material

Glycyrrhizic Dipotassium is derived from the roots of the leguminous plant licorice. there are 3 types: Glycyrrhiza, Glycyrrhiza inflata, and Glycyrrhiza glabra (also known as European licorice). DPG is present in all 3 types of licorice, while another commonly known extract from European licorice, "Glycyrrhizin," is unique to this category. Preparation

Yuantai Organic possesses its own manufacturing facility and supports custom formulations. The production process involves grinding licorice roots into powder, boiling them in water three times, combining the extracts, filtering, and concentrating them to one-fifth of the original volume. Sulfuric acid is added, followed by sediment collection, water washing, drying, and powder milling below 60°C. The subsequent powder is exposed to three rounds of CH3)2CO reflux extraction, eliminating debasements insoluble in CH3)2CO. The acetone solution is cooled, and a 20% potassium hydroxide solution is added to precipitate crystals of Glycyrrhizic Acid Tripotassium Salt.The subsequent arrangement can be fermented to acquire free glycyrrhizic corrosive. Alternatively, direct extraction from licorice roots using methods like hot water dissolution is also possible. Due to the precipitation of glycyrrhizic acid in acidic conditions, its application has limitations. Replacing the hydrogen in the two glucuronic acid moieties of glycyrrhizic acid with potassium ions yields Glycyrrhizic Acid Dipotassium, which offers higher stability.
