Sour orange fruit extract competitively inhibits the activity of both enzymes, inhibiting polyol pathway enzymes and improving diabetic complications.

The extract competitively inhibits the activity of aldose reductase and sorbitol dehydrogenase, alleviates this process, improves the oxidative stress, osmotic stress and glycosylation associated with it, and thus can prevent diabetic complications.
