1. Effects on 3T3‑L1 adipocyte viability and lipid accumulation

Obesity occurs with an increase in adipose tissue and lipid content. Oil red O staining was used to observe the inhibitory effect of naringin on adipose tissue and lipid accumulation. Compared with the control group at all tested concentrations, lipid accumulation was reduced.

2. Effects on thermogenesis in 3T3‑L1 adipocytes

All factors related to fat browning were enhanced. UCP1 is involved in thermogenesis, which is the most important factor in fat browning, and PGC-1α and PRDM16 are known to affect the transcription of UCP1. In addition, PGC-1α is involved in the generation of mitochondria. Therefore, it is possible to increase UCP1 levels, which is a key factor affecting thermogenesis in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, and may affect fat browning.
