At the highest tested concentration, collagenase activity even dropped below the detection limit, indicating that it completely inhibited measurable collagenase activity.

This demonstrates that shiitake mushroom extract has an extremely strong inhibitory ability on collagenase, providing a scientific basis for its application in anti-aging and firming skincare products.

Safety: No toxic side effects

Cytotoxicity experiments showed that within a concentration range of 0.19–200 μg/mL, the survival rate of human skin keratinocytes remained above 90%. Even at high concentrations, no cell damage was observed.
